General Rules and Judging Criteria for the
Our Peace Plan Challenge
These are the General Rules and Judging Criteria for the Our Peace Plan Challenge (the “Challenge”).
1. Eligibility
The Challenge is open to each of the Catholic Parishes of Vicariate III of the Archdiocese of Chicago as of May 1, 2021 (the “Parish” also referred to as “you/your” herein).
2. Entry Period
The time to submit a Plan begins on May 1, 2021 and ends on June 1, 2021 at 5:00 Central Time.
3. How to Enter
Submission will be approved by the Pastor of the Parish and entered through a portal on the Our Peace Plan website no later than June 1, 2021 at 5:00 Central Time.
4. Judging Criteria
Your Entry should provide a step-by-step plan that outlines what your Parish will do to reduce at least one underlying cause of violence within your Parish boundary. This Plan should address the following items and provide specifics about each (Each of these 10 elements will be scored 1-10 with 10 being the highest):
1.State your specific goals.
2.Set forth a detailed outline of the Plan with a timeline.
3.Who will lead the implementation of the Plan?
4.How will you get parishioners (of all ages) involved? What will you do to gather their ideas and input?
5.How will you work with and get support of local businesses and other corporations? Identify the local businesses and other corporations you hope to work with.
6.How will you work with and get support from civic, community, other faiths, and various charitable entities? Identify the civic, community and various charitable entities you hope to work with.
7.How will you work with and get local schools and colleges involved? Identify the local schools and colleges you hope to work with.
8.Identify what you see as the biggest hurdles to your plan.
9.Identify the costs to develop and implement your Plan and identify how these costs would be funded.
10.Is the Plan practical and able to be implemented?
5. Entry Requirements
The Entry must meet the following criteria:
- Must be your own original work.
- May only contain content, for which you have all required consents and approvals.
- Cannot contain, as determined by the Judges, content that is sexually explicit, violent, derogatory of any ethnic, racial, gender, religious, professional or age group, which violates any law.
- Not violate any third-party rights, including, but not limited to, copyrights, trademark rights, or rights of privacy and publicity
- You are the creator of the submission.
- You own all rights to the submission.
- The submission does not infringe upon or violate the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any third party.
6. Sponsor’s Rights to Entries
By submitting an entry, you:
(a) Irrevocably grant Sponsor, its agents, licensees, and assigns the unconditional and perpetual right and permission to copy, publish, post and adapt, in any social media throughout the world without additional review, compensation, or approval from you or any other party.
(b) You retain all ownership in the submitted images and only grant limited rights to Vicariate III to repost as described in (a) above.
(c) Agree not to instigate, support, maintain, or authorize any action, claim, or lawsuit against the Sponsor on the grounds that any use of the entry, or any derivative works, infringes any of your rights as creator of the entry, including, without limitation, copyrights, trademark rights, and moral rights.
7. Winner Selection & Expectations
(a) The Entries will be judged by a committee chosen by the Sponsor. The odds of winning depend on the number of valid entries received and the quality of the entries. The decisions of Sponsor shall be final and legally binding as it pertains to this Challenge. The winning entry will be announced and posted on the Our Peace Plan website on June 11, 2021.
(b) Winners of prize money agree to submission of a monthly progress report through December 31, 2021, as well as a joint gathering to be announced later in 2021. These progress reports will be viewed by the Sponsor, as well as others interested in future support of plans and projects.
8. Prizes
(a) Pastors of the winning Parishes will be notified via phone and/or email within 3 days following the public announcement as described in 6. above.
(b) Limit one prize per Parish.
(c) Prize money is awarded by submittal (i.e., one prize towards one project in case of more than one submission for a single project)
9. Conduct
By participating in this Challenge, each Parish agrees to abide by these General Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor and Judging Committee, which are final and legally binding as they pertain to the Challenge.
10. Disclaimer and Force Majeure
Sponsor and the other Promotion Entities are not responsible for:
(a) typographical errors in any materials relating to the Challenge
(b) lost, misdirected, illegible, incomplete, or delayed entries
(c) cancellations, postponements, or delays
(d) Acts of God, war, terrorism, government regulation, disaster, fire, strikes, civil disorder
(e) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Challenge
(f) electronic or human error which may occur in the administration of the Challenge or the processing of entries
(g) or any other causes beyond such parties’ control, making it inadvisable, illegal, impossible, or impractical to continue the Challenge or to perform under these Official Rules.
